This was two research grant opportunities - one grant focused on tomatoes in Burkina Faso and another grant focused on dried apricots in Tajikistan. Both grants serve research needs and farmer needs as identified by USAID Missions.

Call for research proposals on tomatoes for Burkina Faso

This grant is available for up to $150,000 per year, for a maximum of $300,000 over two years.

Tomato research for resilience in Burkina Faso: In collaboration with USAID/Burkina Faso and the USAID/Sahel Regional Office, the Horticulture Innovation Lab is seeking research proposals on improving postharvest handling, storage and marketing of tomatoes. Research findings should be applicable to, and easily implemented by, smallholder farmers, other local beneficiaries and the USAID-funded projects that support them in Burkina Faso. Eligibility: Proposals led by U.S. university researchers will be given priority for funding, but proposals led by other U.S. organizations, including nonprofit and for-profit groups, will also be considered.

Deadline: Sept. 12, 2016 is the deadline to apply by emailing completed proposals to horticulture@ucdavis.edu.
