This presentation, delivered by Elizabeth Mitcham, director of the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Horticulture, served as the introduction to the the Horticulture for Research Development Conference, "Colorful Harvest: From Feeding to Nourishing a Growing World" on March 26, 2019 in Washington, D.C.

The slides also introduce the Horticulture Innovation Lab, which has been managed by UC Davis since it was first established in 2009 with $35 million in core funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development. The Horticulture Innovation Lab has developed a portfolio of projects to address needs in horticulture. The program awarded grants to U.S. university researchers to work with partners in developing countries and built a global network of researchers over the years. Slides highlight the program's research topics, key projects, technologies, and regional centers.
