In the morning, participants selected one of four tour options to get a closer look at horticultural production and marketing in Honduras:

  • Markets and More: This group visited multiple markets, from small neighborhood stalls to a large supermarket distributor.
  • Rural Production and Markets: This group visited a rural market and saw local production for rural markets.
  • Production for Export: This group visited a large producer whose focus is on export, including sorting and processing facilities.
  • Vegetable Production: Green onion, broccoli, cauliflower and lettuce grown year-round. Produce is sold locally to La Colonia and Hortifruti.

In the afternoon, participants gathered at the Panamerican Agricultural School, Zamorano, for a tour of the school's production facilities and the Horticulture Innovation Lab Regional Center at Zamorano. For more information about this day's activities, see the program.
