Horticulture Research for Development Conference

The Horticulture Innovation Lab hosted this two-day conference, "Colorful Harvest: From Feeding to Nourishing a Growing World," to gather the latest innovations and top researchers in the growing field of horticulture for development.

2019 Annual Meeting

In 2019, the Horticulture Innovation Lab will hold its annual meeting events in Washington, D.C. The event will bring together parts of the program's global research network — including the management team, advisory board members, representatives from ongoing research projects, a selection of student alumni, previous grant recipients, development experts, and horticulture scientists.

Trellis Fund Summit

In 2019, the Horticulture Innovation Lab brought together alumni of the Trellis Fund program — both students and grant awardees — to reflect on successes, challenges and lessons learned from experiences with the program since 2011.

The Power of Produce

This special breakfast side event at the World Food Prize and Borlaug Dialogue highlights the importance of fruits and vegetables for nutritious diets and prosperous agricultural economies. The event is hosted by the Horticulture Innovation Lab, World Vegetable Center and Catholic Relief Services.

World Food Day - UC Davis open house

In honor of World Food Day 2018, the Horticulture Innovation Lab is inviting the UC Davis community to visit its outdoor demonstration center for an open house. 

2018 Annual Meeting

In 2018, the Horticulture Innovation Lab held its annual meeting in Rwanda. The event brought together the program's international team, local horticultural experts, and development practitioners. This event's theme was, "Engaging youth as agricultural entrepreneurs."

Symposium on Horticultural Science

Postharvest in Horticulture: Reducing losses and improving quality to capture high-value crops

The Horticulture Innovation Lab held a briefing about improving postharvest practices for horticultural crops, July 24, 2014 at the UC Washington Center in Washington, D.C.

The event brought together experts on new postharvest technologies, challenges and opportunities in improving postharvest practices, methods for scaling, and an overview of efforts to reduce postharvest losses and improve food safety in developing countries.

Horticulture: Key Opportunities for Nutrition

The Horticulture Innovation Lab held a forum discussion of the relationship between horticulture and nutrition, July 9 in Washington, D.C.

The event included highlights of how the Horticulture Innovation Lab's research has related to nutrition during the program's first five years — including projects focused on African indigenous vegetables and orange- and purple-fleshed sweet potatoes.
