Researching postharvest for smallholder tomato farmers in Burkina Faso

This 1-minute video shares about the Horticulture Innovation Lab project in Burkina Faso working to improve postharvest practices for tomato production. The project team begin by conducting a market assessment to understand all the factors that impact the tomato chain. As the project went on, the team partnered with existing USAID projects and other organizations, including INERA (Environmental Institute for Agricultural Research – Burkina Faso). The research team is focusing on inclusive methods in order to best solve the needs of smallholders.

Speaking in the video is Dr. Some Koussau with INERA. The project is aimed at improving postharvest handling, storage, processing and marketing of tomatoes in Burkina Faso.

This video debuted at the 2018 Horticulture Innovation Lab annual meeting in Kigali, Rwanda.
