Research and collaboration drove the development postharvest horticulture education, research, and extension. Research produces knowledge that can be used and collaboration is needed to develop credible results and competition. The World Vegetable Center follows a model where value chain analysis with education and research generates technology. Value chain analysis and the generation of technologies lead to building capacities and contribute to higher income and poverty alleviation.
