Eric Kueneman is a global agriculture consultant with experience in more than 60 countries worldwide as the director of Kueneman Consultancy. In 2010, he retired from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, as the Deputy Division Director of the Crop Production and Protection Division. This included programmatic oversight for FAO's support to member governments on horticulture production, protection and associated value chain development. He was also the global task manager for the UN's initiative on Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development. As a consultant, he has worked with a number of global organizations, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Clinton Global Development Initiative, International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Centro Internacional de Agricultura Tropical (CIAT) and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Kueneman worked in Rome for 22 years, as well as 2 years in Haiti, 2 years in Colombia, 2 years in Brazil, and 6 years in Nigeria. He holds a Ph.D. in plant breeding from Cornell University and a bachelor's degree in botany and plant biology from the University of Idaho.
