Improving postharvest handling and irrigation for mushroom and tomato farmers

Description

This project aims at improving livelihoods of 320 beneficiaries in Kira municipality, Wakiso district. Project activities include a total of 72 trainings on farming with irrigation, postharvest handling, and value addition for farmers who grow tomatoes and mushrooms. The team will also set up 16 demonstration sites with bucket irrigation kits, solar dryers and sealing machines to demonstrate on irrigation, vegetable value addition and packaging. For sustainability, five community-based trainers will be identified and empowered to continue disseminating information/knowledge and guiding beneficiaries while addressing challenges after project completion.
