Program name change: Horticulture Innovation Lab

In 2012, the U.S. Agency for International Development announced a reorganization of U.S. university-led research programs aligned with Feed the Future, the U.S. government’s global hunger and food initiative.

Under the reorganization, the existing Collaborative Research Support Programs (CRSPs) would each be renamed as a “Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Collaborative Research.” In addition to the CRSPs, a dozen other research programs led by U.S. universities and funded by USAID were also designated as “Feed the Future Innovation Labs.”

In February 2014, the program name for Horticulture CRSP was officially changed to “Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Collaborative Research on Horticulture” and later shortened to just "Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Horticulture." The abbreviated and more common version of the program’s name is “Horticulture Innovation Lab.”

Counting the Horticulture Innovation Lab, UC Davis currently leads five Feed the Future Innovation Labs with funding from USAID.
