How do Innovation Labs measure progress and plan for impact

Description

This presentation, given by Josette Lewis with the UC Davis World Food Center at the Horticulture Innovation Lab's 2017 annual meeting, discusses ways to measure progress and plan for impact, with discussion focused on impact pathways.

The presentation focuses specifically on Feed the Future objectives and indicators, and how Feed the Future Innovation Labs can contribute to understanding impact pathways. On one level, researchers can focus on impact pathways within the scope of their project, using results framework, moving from outputs to outcome to impact. Beyond the scope of the project, impact pathways exceed direct interventions of project practitioners and researchers.

The presentation uses specifics from two Horticulture Innovation Lab projects as examples, and provides guidance for a group activity on planning research and technology development to have greater impact.
